Margaret Mroczek was born in New York City in 1979. The only child of two foreign doctors, her European heritage was always close by, as were stories of her mother's cousin, a renowned Polish political cartoonist.
Her family moved to the Deep South when she was 8 years old and it has been her beloved home ever since. She finds constant inspiration in the summer crickets, fireflies, creepy ghost stories and haint blue porches. She currently lives and works in Atlanta, GA in a classroom of a converted 1920s schoolhouse with her canvases, stacks of books and a little basenji puppy named Theodore.
